HUMANOIDS
THE FUTURE ROBOTS(HUMANOIDS)
Robots are useful to mankind in two kinds of situations.Firstly, they can do jobs that are dangerous to man and secondly, that is too boring for man, dull or monotonous jobs like filing cards, or typing routine letters, or tightening bolts or carrying from here to there may tire a man, but not a machine. If a man does such jobs repeatedly,it may make his brain inactive or dull, just as no exercise can make one's muscles flabby. So if a robot is used for such jobs,it would be a blessing. The 'rusting' of human brain to the insufficient use of the muscle caused by lack of physical exercise.
There are some who fear that the use of robots will lead to unemployment. This fear is baseless. It is true , of course that robots will be increasingly used to perform tasks that are monotonous or dangerous for human beings. Lots of assembly line jobs will be lost.At the same time , however thousands of newer and more interesting jobs will be created.Dull jobs will be replaced by creative ones. These new jobs require a different set of skills. Such a thing has happend earlier too.The automobile industry gave rise to thousands of new jobs while old jobs connected with the maintenance of horses reduced in number.
The hall mark mark of human intelligence is creativity and imagination. The outstanding feature of a robot or a computer is its ability to perform mechanical jobs like mathematical calculations. However, computers and robots lack creativity.Creativity is a quality that is unique to human beings. In future , human beings may focus entirely on creative and imaginative tasks.Computers may perform all mechanical and monotonous jobs.In this way computer intelligence and human intelligence can be differentiated and channelized in a different warp.
